Q. I go to an Ivy League school that essentially has no accounting class. To satify the 150 semester hrs requirement of the CPA exam, should I apply to Master's programs in Accounting, or should I just take enough accounting classes to make myself eligible to sit for the exam? Do you know of any schools offering good (=high quality) accounting programs/courses? If possible, I would prefer the school to be in the West or East coast. Hi there, I was in the exact same boat as you were. I was an Econ Major, who decided to do a Master's program in Accounting at USC (University of Southern California). I think they rank in the top 5 for graduate accounting programs, and the good thing about the program is that it's a strategic recruiting school, so most people in my program were able to find jobs even before we graduated. I believe University of Illinois has the best accounting program in the US, so that's another option. It's all up to you, but I think if you are going to spend the amount of time to get 150 semester hours, then you might as well get a Master's degree out of it.
