The Canadian Police Association (CPA) is an organization of Canadian police officers. In 2003, the original "Canadian Police Association" was merged with the National Association of Professional Police to form the Canadian Professional Police Association. At their annual convention in Victoria, British Columbia in August 2006, Canadian Professional Police Association members agreed to revert the name back to the Canadian Police Association because it was more recognizable and user friendly. The Canadian Police Association represents 54,700 police personnel across Canada. Membership includes police personnel serving in 170 police services across Canada, from small towns to those working in large municipal and provincial police forces, as well as members of the RCMP, railway police, and first nations police personnel. The role of the Canadian Police Association is to:

GNU Free Documentation License New type of Defense for Rape? Q. It wasn't a sexual assault -- it was sleep sex. In an unusual case in a Scarborough, Ontario, courtroom, Jan Luedecke was acquitted of sexual assault after a judge ruled he was asleep during the attack -- a disorder known as "sexsomnia." "This is indeed a rare case ... His conduct was not voluntary," said Justice Russell Otter, as Luedecke's victim shook, sobbed and then left the courtroom. The judgment has outraged women's groups. "This is infuriating. It's another case of the courts not taking a woman seriously, adding yet another list to the list of excuses which men use for sexual assault," said Suzanne Jay, of the Canadian Association of Sexual Assault Centers. For-profit health care hurts those who need it most by Hugh Curran There is much debate about health care yet little consideration for the ethical implications, especially the appropriateness of profit motives in the health care industry. Americans do not seek to make a profit from education (kindergarten to grade 12), fire or police departments, yet people seriously listen to industry lobbyists who believe this to be a right in health care. The philosopher Martin Buber defined evil as resulting from indecision. Where health care is involved there is a good deal of indecision, but this indecision is largely the result of disinformation by those who profit from health care. The insurance company doesn't dictate to the doctor what kind of treatment I can have. And I don't have huge co pays There is a misconception that poor people are just left out in the cold, and they can't get medical treatment. That is not true. Anyone can go to any public hospital and get treatment. The hospital is not allowed to turn anyone away regardless if they have insurance or not. There are millions of illegal immigrants in the U.S. who use public hospitals when they get sick. The majority of them don't pay anything. The taxpayers pick up the tab. I just don't think it's fair for the government to come along and force me to give up my insurance and go with the government… [cont.] Answered by Mark S - Tue Aug 18 15:49:18 2009 Please read this article and argue your side. Not ONE of the cons will read it. They are not the least interested in actually understanding the health care problem in America - they have feasted too long on a diet of soundbites and talking points. Even though doing so means that they are harming themselves, their loved ones, and their own family members. It's perverse.
