What is the most accurate determinant of retention, class rank or final board exam scores?
Q. There were some students in my dental school class of nearly 75 students who seemed to float to the top of the class but mananged to bomb out on the board exams...BIG TIME. Some of these students had priviledged access to rows and rows of exam questions and anwers. Only a very few had board scores that actually reflected their class rank. Which is the best determinant of how well a student has retained the didactic material?

Are foreigners who graduated from medical courses in the Philippines eligible to take Philippine board exam?

A. Yes. A medical graduate from any country can take any board exam that he or she wants. No, he or she is not required to be a permanent resident in the country where they take the boards. After graduating from a Philippine university, you are entitled to take the Philippine boards, as well as that of other countries such as the USMLE (United States Medical Licensure Exams) or that of other nations, as well. Same goes for graduates of other countries' medical schools who take the boards in the Philippines. Philippine Medical boards are valid throughout Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Likewise, their medical boards are also valid in the Philippines.

Does a cosmetology instructor know when a student passes the state board exam?
Q. I wondering this, because a "friend" of mine, who teaches in the same department as my cosmetology instructors, already knew I passed my state board examination. Q. an approximate amount? and how much would resources like paper, staples and ink cost per year for an exam board company? I'm comparing a paper based and computerised system... and showing how a computerised system is more cost efficient in the long term. Thanks

A. It has long been shown that the much promised 'saving of paper' that computers were supposed to bring has not happened. In fact much the opposite, as people prefer paper to screen, will frequently print out drafts as well as the final result. etc. Scanned copies are not as manipuatable as formatted documents. Exam boards also need to provide hard certifcates and printed certfied records at some point. You really need to show which parts of the process you think can be eliminated and therefore 'saved' by being electronic. Then add back in the costs of electronic maintainence... - technicians to rebuild PC's/support users - Software licences - updating of antivirus - updateing of hardware every 2-3 years as it is no longer powerful… [cont.]
