What can you do if you are a qualified accountant appart from accounting?
Q. I know that if you are a qualified accountant you can do all sorts of business jobs including of course being an accountant. I also heard that the FBI takes on accountants. Are there any other jobs that accountants can do that you wouldn't naturally think of?

I know that for mortgage brokering, i'll need to take some exams. But can I set up my business once I've taken the exams or are there other conditions to fulfil? A. Please contact Business Eye in Wales, Business Link in England, or local council's regeneration department who will advice you on the best place for this information. I would suggest you would definitely need to be an IFA (Independent Financial Adviser) more exams, a licenced loan company under the DTI, as a debt collector and as a bailiff (more exams).

I am trying to find an employment agency or anyone who can help me recruit a qualified Mexican Accountant.?
Q. The company looking to hire the accountant is located in Atlacamulco (approximately 40 minutes drive from Toluca) in the state of Mexico. The company is in the maufacturing sector and is one of 4 manufacturing plants in the group and the other 3 plants are located in Asia. We prefer an IMCP qualified accountant with at least 3 - 5 years of industry experience (in any industry). The ability to communicate (both written and oral) fluently in English is essential.

What is a Part Qualified accountant?
Q. I know there are like 14 exams and you have to do three years work experience. But what do you need to become only part qualifed? Just the exams or work experience, or a bit of both Please Advise.
Asked by Bubbles - Fri Feb 23 11:27:22 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. To become a part qualified chartered accountant you need to complete the earlier exams of a chartered accountancy body and also gain at least a couple of years of work experience in an accountancy environment. For example, with the ACCA qualification once you have completed the first two levels of their exams you can call yourself a part qualified accountant. However, I cannot see why you are interested in becoming a part qualified accountant. If you do not think that you have the academic ability to become a fully qualified chartered accountant then you should be looking at taking technician level exams, like the AAT or CAT, as opposed to chartered level exams.

Q. How do I become a "part qualified accountant"?
Asked by Echo - Sat Nov 8 14:18:17 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The only way to become a truly certified accountant is to major in accounting in college and pass the exam but if you get a certificate in accounting or take some accounting classes then you can get jobs in accounting departments or assist certified accountants in their job, if that is what you mean by "part qualified accountant."

Is it worth doing a Masters degree in Accounting if you're already a fully qualified chartered accountant?
Q. Or would it be worthwhile doing a Masters in Finance instead. Or perhaps a Masters in Law. My ultimate goal is to open my own Accounting practice, but looking for another degree that will be complimentary.
Asked by Nothing's Forever - Mon May 5 11:55:14 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I would say that it depends on what type of accounting you want to specialize in. If you want to focus on tax law, perhaps a law degree would be useful. If you want to specialize in finance such as handling investments or advice to high net individuals, then it's finance. If you want to be more of a general practicioner, then a Masters in Accounting is probably the way to go (although it's not required). Even within general practice you'll have to make some decisions such as whether you want to focus on tax or auditing. Another consideration is that you may want to look at an MBA especially if you want to open your own firm. My experience has been that accountants are great with the accounting side of a business but aren't any… [cont.]

Does this make me a part-qualified Accountant?
Q. I have a Degree in Business Studies(Accounting & Finance). Having done some research This allows me to be exempt from all exams in obtaining a CAT(Certified Accounting Technican). This doesn't include practical experience, which I have some of. Does this allow me to say that I am part-qualified when submitting a job application?
Asked by mpcarmody - Tue Nov 18 21:02:00 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, never say you are ALMOST qualified to do anything. This is almost like padding your resume to get the job. If you're exempt from the exams, then apply for the certificate and list CAT on your resume/application.

Q. how long does this take and can i do it self learning?
Asked by daisy2007 - Mon Dec 10 17:49:35 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. To become a part qualified accountant you would either need to be studying ACCA (Financial Accounting) or CIMA (Management Accounting). AAT would only give you account technician status NOT qualified accountant (or part-qualified) status. Check out The CIMA Global, ACCA & AAT Websites as there will be a lot of info for you to trawl through - they all take years of study but it's mostly at your own pace.
